Do you remember my last post – about dressing my age? Well, as you know, I don’t let my age define my style. This applies from head-to-toe, including my heel height.
Ladies, we’ve got moves to make during the day, so take some time to do a bit of research before buying your next pair of heels. I always recommend slowly growing your collection by starting with a trusted style of shoe – or brand.
So, out of curiosity, what’s your personal rule for wearing heels? Do you have a maximum height? I won’t wear a heel higher than 4 inches. Do you prefer a certain style?
Three words define my decision: comfort, confidence and cost
Comfort
I know, I know – if you’re wearing heels, your expectations for comfort need to be lowered. Well, yes and no. While I understand that a pair of heels may not provide the comfort of a sneaker, or fuzzy slippers, wearing heels shouldn’t cause pain. If you can’t walk from the car to the restaurant without shedding a tear or cringing at every step, it’s time to reconsider that shoe. Try another style, size or heel height. Even better, add some extra cushion or support. Trust me, your feet will be much happier.
Confidence
We’ve all been there. We all have a story about wearing a pair of shoes that should have stayed in the box. We got ready for the evening, got to our destination, and realized that we weren’t quite ready to wear a heel of that height. All night, we were self-conscious about how we walked or appeared to others. Sometimes, it’s as simple as getting a few practice wears in around the house or making sure you won’t slip when walking. Other times, it’s a simple, “Nope, that shoe isn’t for me.”
Cost
There’s no need to break the bank, but try your best to invest in a good pair of high heels. This includes starting with trusted brands that may be a few dollars more than a similar shoe at a better price. The wrong pair can cause pain and discomfort that may not be easily fixed. The right pair can become your go-to shoe to tag along with your favorite outfits and accessories.
What do you consider when wearing heels or making a purchase?
